300 Deserving Families Received Food Assistance during COVID - 19

Since February 2020 COVID - 19 pandemic has severely affected Pakistan and as preventive measure, provincial and federal governments have announced complete lockdown. In addition to health emergency, the COVID - 19 has also cause food insecurity and livelihood issue, especially for daily wages workers. Considering the severity of the problem, MRC initiated the campaign and reached out to local philanthropists and organizations for seeking food assistance for the under-served women headed households.

In response to MRC's call for action for ration distribution, three organizations, i.e.; IDSP Quetta, Kiran foundation and PYAR Foundation supported the cause. MRC distributed food items to 300 deserving families for two month, which were surviving on daily wage labor that was discontinued due to COVID - 19 lockdown.

During the relief distribution activity, the recipients offered gratitude to MRC for thoughtful and helping gesture.

English Language Course for Rural Girls

It is not only the lack of access by also the low quality which limits girls presence in the schools in far flung areas of Balochistan. To address this issue, MRC and The Scholars School initiated the English Language Classes for girls. So far two cohorts of 19 girls have completed Basic English Language Course and now MRC is starting third cohort to provide this important communication tool to more girls and women.

Girls in Science

Promoting Science Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) in students, especially among girls in one of the core areas of emphasis for MRC.

To this end, MRC collaborated with an innovative organization Science Fuse and carried out two programs, i.e.; Scientists for Tomorrow and Science Club. There are 35 students who benefited from the inquiry-based science learning with the support of Science Fuse.

This was the first time for any school in district Khuzdar, Balochistan to be engaged in practicum sessions, said Lala Rukh, CEO of Science Fuse.

Sharing the Warmth

150 Children Received Warm Clothes in the middle of harsh winter with the support of Apna Dastar Khuwan

Mechanism for Rational Change considers the protection of children, especially during the harsh winter is essential to provide them good health and education. So during the winter season of 2020-2021 MRC team organized a campaign to collect the warm clothes, especially sweaters from local philanthropists and organizations and distributed these clothes to deserving children in Balochistan. This gesture of sharing warmth was well received by community members.

Promoting STEM education in Balochistan

Project Overview

MRC has entered into a partnership with Malala Fund, where it is implementing a project to enable 2,000 out-of-school or drop-out girls from five union councils of Khuzdar district to attain their right of access to quality education. The program is envisioned, designed, and implemented by promoting girls' involvement as active stakeholders of the program. Since the inception of the program, Girls Child Ambassadors from five project-focused union councils are vital aspects of the interventions. These change ambassadors are playing a leadership role within their schools where not only they identified these barriers which are challenging for girls education. Even they are reducing these barriers Moreover, they are doing advocacy for the betterment of girls' education. They will be advocates of girls' education not only in Khuzdar even in Balochistan and will bring reforms in the education policy of Balochistan.
